sorry is so empty

How can I ever express 
The sadness that I feel ,
When "sorry" is so empty
And wounds just need to heal.

I've made so many mistakes
In learning how to love,
Too many to be forgiven
Impossible to rise above.

Apologies are pointless
Just words said into air,
But my words are filled with sorrow
My heart filled with despair.

I pray one day you forgive
Let anger cease to be,
And know my heart is true
Though regret won't set me free.
